LED Dance Floor

InStyle’s LED tape has been used to create an LED colour changing dance floor with fantastic results.

InStyle LED assisted with the design of the LED dance floor for Funky Brownz nightclub. Thee LED dance floor was created to give stunning effects but at the fraction of the cost of a standard LED dance floor.

The InStyle products used to complete the project were the following:

1 x InStyle DMX wall controller
40m x RGB LED tape commercial grade 7.2w
2 x DMX recievers
1 x 320w Transformer

A hole was cut off for where the LED dance floor was going to be. Beams were laid across for the frosted acrylic to be laid onto. The LED tape was supplied in 8 x 5m reels. These were spaced evenly and stuck onto a clean surface at the base of the cut out, approximately 20cm below the frosted acrylic to give a smooth effect. The frosted acrylic was pre cut in sections by the manufacturer and laid onto the beams. The acrylic is thick and strong enough for people to stand on and allows the light to shine through. The acrylic was properly sealed.

The transformer and 2 x DMX receivers were mounted in a cupboard away from the dance floor. 2 x 4 core (1.5mm) cable feeds were taken from the DMX receivers to the dance floor for the LED strips to be evenly spread across both feeds (4 x 5m reels per feed). A cat5 cable then linked one DMX receiver to the other and then taken from there through the ceiling to behind the bar approx 10m away. From there the cat5 is plugged into a Instyle DMX wall controller giving full control over the LED dance floor.

The end finish is stunning  The customer was ecstatic with the results. The controller allowed the RGB LED dance floor to be selected to any static colour, colour scrolled, dimmed and even ‘sound to light’ mode.
